Below I will review and discuss two sample lesson plans which utilize the Discussion-Debate Model:
Joshua's Review of the Lesson Plans:
Strengths & Weaknesses - Both of the lessons were very organized and flowed very well from one activity/step to the next. They used good sources to base the discussion and debate on, which also allowed for further research opportunities.
Connections to the Model - Each of the two lesson plans used the same structure we learned in class. Both had a clear discussion section and debate section within the lesson.
Deviations from the Model - The first lesson deviated from the original model's structure by having the students work in groups during part of the lesson.
What I might change - I think both of the lessons implemented the Discussion-Debate model well. I would definitely make the lesson have more than one session just as they did in the second lesson plan.
