STAD (Student Teams Achievement Divisions)
Below are two sample lesson plans which utilize the Student Teams Achievement Divisions (STAD) Model:
Joshua's Review of the Lesson Plans: Strengths & Weaknesses - Both of the lesson plans were very organized and covered the material thoroughly. However, the first lesson plan seems as though it would keep the students' attention more and contain more group work than the second lesson plan provided. Connections to the Model - The two lesson plans both consisted of the same implementation structure as the one listed in our textbook. Deviations from the Model - The first lesson allows the students to group themselves during one portion of the lesson. This deviates from the typical STAD model because the teacher normally chooses the group members. What I might change - Both of these lesson were very organized and covered the varying concepts well. The only characteristics I might change would be the amount of activities associated with each lesson, depending on how much time I have allotted to teach the lesson. |
