Below I will review and discuss two sample lesson plans which utilize the Guided Discovery Model:
Joshua's Review of the Lesson Plans:
Strengths & Weaknesses - Both of the lessons have a great exploration section within their lessons that help further the students comprehension and involve them in the instruction.
Connections to the Model - They both allow for the use of examples and non-examples, which is a key part of the Guided Discovery model.
Deviations from the Model - Neither of them seemed to follow the same implementation structure as the model in the textbook did (Open-Ended Phase & Convergent Phase), or at least not in an apparent fashion.
What I might change - Instead of all the online resources they discuss using to aid their lesson, I would try to have more hands-on activities for the students to be involved with.
